About Us

John Day Models has now grown and includes many ranges of models that have not been available for many years, so please use the “Our Models” tab to stay informed!

Following the sad loss of John Day in the summer of 2006, his son Crispin and partner Caroline endeavoured to carry on the John Day Models business in an attempt to continue supplying this wonderful range of models, which span a diverse range of decades and subject matter. Equally as important, Crispin realised that it would be a very sad loss for modellers around the world if the model range, which is his father’s legacy, were to slip away. Unfortunately, as Crispin and Caroline are both professionals with young children and already live very busy lives, they realised that it would be all too consuming to carry on with the models. With a view of continuing the range of models and his father’s name, Crispin passed the business over to me, Daryle Toney, in August 2010, knowing that I had a passion for these models and would ensure that his father’s name and work would continue.

The range has been slowly reintroduced from existing serviceable moulds in small quantities, and new moulds of remastered and brand new models have now begun in earnest, subject to available time, as this is a small cottage industry that’s run alongside my main business.

Modellers can look forward to a comprehensive range of GPO vehicles complete with decals, and more railway owned vehicles and figure scenes to complement this ever-growing range.
